INDIAN HILLS HIGH SCHOOL
DEPARTMENT OF SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES
The Department of Special Education at Indian Hills is an integral part of the academic high school program and provides services to students with disabilities under New Jersey Administrative Code Title 6A, Chapter 14.
The Special Services Department is a multidisciplinary team consisting of Special Education Teachers, Learning Specialists, School Psychologists, Social Workers, and Related Service Providers who are committed to meeting the individual needs of all students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment.
Indian Hills has a Child Study Team and a building-based Special Education Supervisor to ensure that students with disabilities receive a Free and Appropriate Public Education.
The Child Study Team participates in the identification and determination of students eligible for special education and related services. This includes psychological assessments, educational assessments, and social work services. In addition, the Child Study Team provides case management services to students who are classified and are placed in special education programs or require special accommodations to access the general education curriculum. The case manager works in conjunction with the guidance counselor to provide transition services for students, including coordinating with community agencies to ensure linkages to postsecondary adult services upon graduation.
It is the goal of the Special Services staff to provide support and accommodations for those students with significant disabilities that impact their education to achieve their highest potential.
