Congratulations to Indian Hills Academic Decathlon Team!

We congratulate the members of the Indian Hills Academic Decathlon team. They placed 1st at the Regional Competition and are moving on to States! The members are Nigel DaSilva, Harrison Chen, Tara Haymon, Sorab Taneja, Morgan Ford, Anabel Riggio, Jon Forsyth, Andrew Fox, Leo Han, Maria DeOliveira, Megan Swenson, Lydia Park, Greg Houldsworth, Natalie Ambrose, Emily Brackenbury, Eli Kupferberg, Keidi Kyle, and Victoria Boyce.

The following students competed as our starters and earned the following awards:

· Nigel DaSilva was our team's MVP and the second highest scoring competitor in the entire region in the Scholastic Division. He earned gold medals for math, art, music, and essay, silver medals for science and speech, and a bronze medal in economics.

· Harrison Chen earned a gold medal in speech, bronze medals in interview and music, and honorable mentions in economics and science.

· Tara Haymon earned gold medals in social science and lang/lit, and an honorable mention in interview.

· Sorab Taneja earned honorable mentions in math, speech, and interview.

· Morgan Ford earned a silver medal in interview, bronze medals in art, music, lang/lit and speech, and an honorable mention in economics.

· Anabel Riggio earned a gold medal in interview and an honorable mention in speech.

· Jon Forsyth was the high scoring competitor in the Varsity Division. He earned gold medals in economics, social science, art, lang/lit, speech, and interview, and a bronze medal in science.

· Andrew Fox won a silver medal in music, bronze medals in art, lang/lit, and interview, and honorable mentions in social science and speech.

· Leo Han was the second highest scoring competitor in the Varsity Division. He earned a gold medal in music, silver medals in social science and math, and a bronze medal in science.

The following students competed as alternates and also earned the following awards:

· Megan Swenson earned gold medals in math, economics, social science, and music, and silver medals in art and lang/lit.

· Maria DeOliveira earned a silver medal in math and a bronze medal in art.

· Emily Brackenbury earned a gold medal in lang/lit and a silver medal in art.

· Natalie Ambrose earned a silver medal in music.

· Keidi Kyle earned a bronze medal in music.

· Lydia Park earned a gold medal in art.

· Eli Kupferberg earned bronze medals in economics and art.

· Victoria Boyce earned a gold medal in science and a bronze medal in music.

· Greg Houldsworth earned gold medals in science and art, a silver medal in social science, and a bronze medal in economics.

The team also took first place in the Super Quiz Relay, in which the starting team directly faced off against the other schools in the region concerning this year’s topic, Africa. 

The state finals will take place at Ramapo High School on Saturday, March 3.
