IHHS Inscape Wins REALM Award

The Indian Hills High School’s art and literary magazine, Inscape, has received a REALM (Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines) award from the National Council of Teachers for English (NCTE).  The 2019 issue of Inscape earned a "Superior" rating from the NCTE, joining the ranks of only a handful of high schools in the country to receive this award.

The annual competition includes entries from high schools and middle schools across the United States, Canada, the Virgin Islands, and American schools abroad. In July 2019, the 53rd edition of the IHHS art and literary magazine was submitted for entry.  Judging was then completed by state and national judges based on a point system. The total points awarded to each magazine determines placement in one of the following categories: REALM First Class (100-93), Superior (100-86), Excellent (85-71) and Merit (70 or fewer points).

Inscape includes both creative writing and artwork by the Indian Hills High School student body. Emily Brackenbury (Class of 2019) served as the 2019 issue’s editor-in-chief, leading an exceptional team of student editors and designers.

Faculty advisers are Dan Keyser (Editorial/Production), Dianna Peller (Editorial/Production), and Kimberly Batti-Valovina (Art/Design).
