The Indian Hills High School Freshman Outreach Program gives incoming students a supportive head start on their high school journey. Guided by energetic senior ambassadors, the program combines hands-on orientation, ongoing connection, and practical advice to make the transition into high school smooth and welcoming:

  • Building Early Connections: Through interactive icebreaker games, photo scavenger hunts around campus, and a bagel breakfast, freshmen get to know their peers and form meaningful relationships with upperclassmen early on.
  • Navigating Campus & Academics: Senior ambassadors guide incoming students through reading schedules, finding classrooms, locating key facilities (like the library, cafeteria, and guidance offices), and setting up their school laptops and student IDs.
  • Unlocking High School "Secrets": Freshmen receive real, practical tips straight from experienced upperclassmen—covering everything from navigating Schoology and Genesis to staying organized, managing homework expectations, and choosing lunch spots.
  • Getting Involved Early: The program introduces students to the wide range of clubs, sports, and student activities available at Indian Hills, encouraging them to find their interests and get active in the school community right away.
  • Continuous Year-Round Support: Beyond summer orientation, periodic check-ins throughout the school year ensure freshmen remain connected with their senior ambassador groups, providing a built-in support system to navigate challenges as they arise.
