Indian Hills Academic Decathlon team earned 2nd place
he Indian Hills Academic Decathlon team earned 2nd place at the 2019 ADNJ State Competition, and will be advancing to compete in Division IV at the National Competition in Bloomington, Minnesota next month! The team consists of Tara Haymon (captain), Megan Swenson (assistant captain), Harrison Chen, Sorab Taneja, Lydia Park, Grace Romitelli, Victoria Boyce, Leo Han, Andrew Ruggiero, Dan Apaza, Ashley Lubas, Aly McCormick, Joseph Park, Ariel Tkach, Cora Mayer-Costa, Eva Sakellakis, Natalie Ambrose, Sofia Wuensch, Emilie Vaysse, Winston Hsiao, and Sohrob Malakuti.
  • Tara Haymon was the 2nd highest scoring competitor in the state for the Scholastic Division. She won silver medals in essay, social science, art, and language/literature, and an honorable mention in science. 
  • Harrison Chen for the Honors Division won gold medals in speech and interview, and an honorable mention in economics.
  • Sorab Taneja for the Honors Division won a silver medal in speech and honorable mentions in math and interview. 
  • Lydia Park for the Honors Division won silver medals in social science and music, and a bronze medal in language/literature.
  • Megan Swenson was the 3rd highest scoring competitor in the state for the Scholastic Division. She won silver medals in math and music, bronze medals in speech and interview, and honorable mentions in economics and science.
  • Grace Romitelli for the Scholastic Division won a silver medal in music and an honorable mention in language/literature. 
  • Leo Han was the highest scoring competitor in the state for the Varsity Division. He won gold medals in science, social science, and art, a silver medal in math, and an honorable mention in essay.
  • Dan Apaza for the Varsity Division won gold medals in essay and economics, and bronze medals in art and interview.
  • Andrew Ruggiero for the Varsity Division won a silver medal for speech, a bronze medal for interview, and an honorable mention for science. 
  • Victoria Boyce, an alternate for the Scholastic Division, won a gold medal in economics, a silver medal in language/literature, and a bronze medal in music.
  • Aly McCormick, an alternate for the Scholastic Division, won a gold medal in music, and bronze medals in social science and language/literature.
