HELPFUL INFORMATION FOR FRESHMEN / NEW STUDENTS

  • DISTRICT EMAIL ACCOUNTS FOR STUDENTS:

Every incoming freshmen and new students will be provided with a district email account via Gmail/Google. The credential (username/password) were sent out via regular U.S. Postal mail with the final schedule before the Labor Day weekend. 


  • 3 REQUIREMENTS NEEDED FOR LAPTOP PICKUP:
  • Attend the 1:1 Family Laptop Training.Both the student and at least one parent MUST attend the 1:1 Family Laptop Training.
  • Sign the AUP / Laptop Agreement Document. Both the Parent and Student must sign their own copy of the AUP / Laptop Agreement. Parents will receive theirs via their primary email address. The students will receive their own copy via their district assigned email account. The AUP will also include other important documents requiring signatures.
  • Pay for the Insurance. Insurance may be paid via MySchoolBucks, this is the preferred method. The same system is used by the District to provide parents a convenient, easy and secure prepayment services to deposit money into your child's school meal account. (Instructions to MySchoolBucks)

 

  • WHEN CAN FRESHMEN PICK UP THEIR LAPTOPS 

Freshmen pick up will not start until school starts. The pickup dates / times will be announced then. Remember: Freshmen and new students must fulfill all 3 requirements before picking up their laptops. 

  • WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE AUP / LAPTOP AGREEMENT / ADOBE SIGN DOCUMENT

  • SCHOOLOGY / GOOGLE CLASSROOM (Homework Portals)

Teachers may use either Schoology or Google Classroom as their homework portals. All students should have access to both systems via the district email credentials.  You will need to Join your classes in Schoology.  Your teacher will provide the required "Access Code" to gain access.  

  • STUDENT ID CARD

If you had your picture taken during the Freshmen Orientation, we will have your Student ID ready shortly (probably before the week of September 18th). Once issued, you must have your ID card at all times while in school. You will use your ID for the following: 

  • Bathroom access
  • Late checkin
  • Visit Guidance or Nurse's Office
  • Purchase lunch, assuming you have an account set up in MySchoolBucks.
  • Retrieve print jobs within the District. 


  • STUDENT PRINTING

Students can print to designated printers/copiers in the Media Center.  The printer name will be "RIH-Printer".  Students will retrieve their print jobs using their ID card.  

Please Note: You will need to program your ID card once to establish and activate the print service. You wil be prompted to enter your AD login the first time you use the system. This is the same credential as your district email account credential but without the '@student.rih.org'. See video for instructions.
